Another Day in Paradise

Paradise......maybe. I guess it is all based on perception! I feel so blessed to have an amazing husband and an incredible baby boy who makes my life complete. We live a simple yet cherished life and enjoy spending time together as a family. As long as we are all together it really is.......just another day in paradise.

Big boy firsts and fun

Once again I am a little behind on blogging. I seem to post photos and updates daily on Facebook and then I tend to let this blog go by the wayside. Sorry for those of you who are not on Facebook!

We finished out the summer and started off September with lots of "firsts" for Camden and fun for the family. He attended his first concert the middle of August. We went to see the Wiggles live in concert at Hershey Theater in Hershey, PA. To say the least it was an even he had been waiting for his whole life. (Yes, all 2 years!!!!) He really enjoys the Wiggles and to be able to give him the gift of seeing them in person was truly priceless. We all enjoyed the concert and the 3rd row seats allowed him to really get into the show.

Camden also started school! Well.......preschool. He is in a 2's program 2 days a week from 9-1pm and is thriving! He really likes school and that social interaction for him in a structured environment is so critical. He always is asking to go and of course he is eager to wear his Wiggles back pack on school days.

Another first and last I guess is a big one. He gave up the pacifier! It was far more emotional for me than I think it was for him. I had wanted to do something special and not just throw it away. We took all of the pacifiers that he owned and placed them in a little cardboard box. He sucked on each one before he put it in the box.......boo-hoo for Mommy to watch :( We then went to the corner of the backyard and Jon got his shovel and we buried them! Camden watched Jon dig the hole and then he dropped his passi box in and we sang a goodbye passi song. Jon then covered them back up with dirt and we all had a good time jumping on top of the dirt mound. We then took him inside and gave him his big boy present. It was a remote control race car, which is now one of his favorite toys. He still asks for the passi every once in awhile and I remind him that we put them in the backyard and said goodbye. I wanted to place them somewhere that he could understand and know that they were still there, just not for him to use anymore. Sometimes he goes to that part of the backyard and steps on the dirt pile and says "big boy, bye passi." It really broke my heart to take something from him that was such comfort and brought him joy. But, I know it had to happen and it turned out fine.

Another first for Camden is his bike! It was given to us by a friend and he enjoys wearing his Spiderman helmet and trying to use the pedals . He really seems to prefer his smaller tricycle at this point and moves it down the street with his feet instead of the pedals.

And last but not least....we enjoyed a few Keys games this summer. Going to the games this summer was fun for Camden and his favorite part seemed to be hugging Keyote and running the bases at the end of the games. The fireworks at the end weren't so bad either!

What a great summer it was. We look forward to making many more memories together as a family this fall and we are overjoyed to know that there will be more "firsts" to come for Camden and the Clinton family. We thank God for Camden and the joy that he has brought us these past 2 years is too hard to measure! We are proud of you Camden Porter and seeing you experience things for the first time makes our hearts so full. We love you more and more each day.

Okay, so you about made ME cry burying the passis!! But I wanted you to know we had a ceremony too. We put Mattie's all in the kitchen trash, took it out to the street and had a party (at breakfast) for the "big girl!" We saved her favorite one for posterity and still pull it out for her every now and then. It instinctively goes right into her mouth!
These growing up moves are so hard! But much harder on emotional mommies than children, I'm sure.
